WOLF AMONG US 2 coming 2027, more from Summer Game Fest

On Friday, during the annual Summer Game Fest’s titular presentation, Telltale Games announced The Wolf Among Us 2 will be finally released in 2027. The game, which is the continuation of the 2013-14 prequel to the comic Fables, was announced in 2019, but had become trapped in development hell after original co-developer AdHoc Studio (Dispatch) left the project. Additionally, a remastered version of the original game was revealed for Holiday 2026.

Paramount Games Studio, the newly formed division created by merging Skydance Interactive and New Media, confirmed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is still in the works. The game, based on the comic of the same name, follows the last living ninja turtle in a dystopian future, and is being developed by PlatinumGames (Bayonetta).

Koei Tecmo revealed Attack on Titan 3, the final game in the series adapting Hajime Isayama‘s monstrous manga and anime of the same name. Its announcement comes five years after the end of the manga, and three after that of the TV show. The first two games were released in 2016 and 2019.

Elsewhere during the weekend’s events, Microids unveiled Marsupilami 2 – Salsa Palombia, a platformer for the new Nickelodeon cartoon, based in turn on the Franco-Belgian comics character created by André Franquin. It will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 3.

Moomin: Midsummer Madness, a point-and-click adventure from Crossbridge and Shochiku, based on the 1954 book of the same name, will be released on PC and the Switch later this year.

Now for some news about games not based on comics you might find of interest. EA announced the tactical game Star Wars: Zero Company will be released on PC, PS5, and Series X/S on Thursday, August 27. The trailer also revealed a Clone Wars era Anakin Skywalker will appear in the game.

In more Star Wars news, a story trailer for Galactic Racer, releasing on the same platforms on October 6, dropped, and it was announced PowerWash Simulator 2‘s DLC of maps from the galaxy far far away will be released on Thursday, July 16.

Paramount revealed Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a horror game by Bloober Team (the Silent Hill 2 remake) starring Ro Laren (played again by Michelle Forbes). The game will follow Ro in an undisclosed point in her timeline, as she gets lured to and stranded on an uncharted planet that’s something of a ship graveyard. It will be released on consoles and PC in 2027.

Another Star Trek announcement came in the form of Outpost Unknown, a base builder set during the original series by Magic Fuel Games (Cityscapes: Sim Builder). A demo is available now on Steam, and the full game will be released later this year.

Wizards of the Coast had a 20-minute gameplay reveal for Exodus, the new sci-fi game co-written by original Mass Effect lead writer Drew Karpyshyn, due out early next year.

Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase brought us a bevy of news, for exclusive and non-exclusive titles alike, including Halo: Campaign Evolved (the remake of the original 2001 game)’s release date on July 28. Perhaps the most historic announcement was for Spyro: A Realm Beyond, the franchise’s first new game since 2008, which will be released on the Series X/S, PC, PS5, and Switch 2 in Spring 2027.

Creative Assembly unveiled Alien Isolation 2, the follow-up to 2014’s survival horror classic. It will follow a new protagonist trying to survive the Xenomorph on the stormy Weyland-Yutani colony world of Kurosaki Station.

IO Interactive revealed the first year of DLC for 007 First Light. These will include a new story mission featuring the return of Lenny Kravitz‘s warlord Bawma.

Atari will release a remastered version of 2002’s fighting game Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, on all major platforms on November 3, just in time for the big guy’s 72nd anniversary. It was also revealed Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion will be featured in the second year of DLC for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (after September 25).

Vampire: The Masquerade is getting a PC-exclusive RPG, Eternal Whispers, which marks the first video game by Montreal-based board game company Flyos. The undated title follows a vampire who is awakened to deal with a conspiracy involving an underground cathedral “built in devotion to a forbidden faith.”

Capcom announced Resident Evil Veronica will be released next year. A remake of 2000’s Dreamcast exclusive Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, the game follows Claire Redfield searching for her brother Chris after the events of the second game.

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy VII Revelation on PS5, Switch 2, Series X/S and PC in Spring 2027. The game marks the third and final installment of the remake of the 1997 game, following 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, and 2024’s Rebirth. Travis Willingham will take over as the English voice of lead villain Sephiroth, as a result of his predecessor Tyler Hoechlin being unavailable.

Conspicuously absent from this year’s event was any update on Paramount’s Captain America & Black Panther title Marvel 1943: Rise of HYDRA, which has now been delayed until 2027, or Rockstar’s behemoth Grand Theft Auto VI, whose November 19 release date is being dodged by every other game arriving around it.

For more, we recommend virtually every other gaming news outlet. Be sure to let us know which news from the weekend, or the State of Play earlier in the week, you’re most excited about.
