There’s no “June Gloom” for Netflix this year. Not only are we getting a new Jennifer Lopez/Brett Goldstein rom-com, Office Romance, but also a veritable avalanche of wedding movies from Julia Roberts joints My Best Friend’s Wedding and Runaway Bride to films like Made of Honor, Rachel Getting Married, Father of the Bride, The Wedding Date, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and J.Lo (again) in The Wedding Planner.
There are also a ton of underdog sports movies to immerse yourself in, like the Karate Kids, (most of) the Rockys, the Creeds (which are also Rockys), Rookie of the Year, Rudy, and Miracle.

Aussie dramedy Muriel’s Wedding is our wedding flick pick — aka the film that made a 22-year-old Toni Collette a buzzed-about breakout in the States; FYI, this slightly edged out Mike Newell/Richard Curtis’ Four Weddings and a Funeral, which was Hugh Grant’s big U.S. break.
P. J. Hogan directed this heartfelt, whimsical, ABBA-filled tale about a socially awkward young woman whose dreams far exceed that of her pokey, go-nowhere hometown. It’s a crowd-pleasing misfit romp filled with satire, melancholy, and poignancy.

Animated web series sensation The Amazing Digital Circus, about people trapped inside a circus-themed virtual reality simulation, is going out with a bang, releasing its eighth and ninth episodes in theaters. If you can’t hit up a local theater, the ninth and final episode lands on YouTube and Netflix on June 19. It’s one of the biggest indie animation hits on the internet, and one that’s grown far beyond creator Gooseworx’s original intentions as she’s more recently witnessed an increase in toxic entitlement from the fanbase. And so the saga, which began back in 2023 with episodes arriving sometimes as much as six months apart, is wrapping things up.
