It’s almost summer, and while that does mean we should probably all be finding opportunities to touch grass, it also means a new spread of releases across your favorite streaming services. While Disney+ hasn’t announced anything new from the worlds of the MCU or Star Wars, there are still plenty of big additions coming to the service in June.

One of the biggest streaming premieres we’ll be getting this month is Avatar: Fire and Ash, while other highlights include a behind-the-scenes documentary for Hamilton’s 10th anniversary and a new Adventure Time spin-off. Of course, there’s also plenty of new series and episodes from the Disney Channel side of things.

Without further ado, here’s everything coming to Disney+ in June.

What’s New to Disney+ in June

    June 1

    • Disney Jr. Ariel – The Little Mermaid (Season 2) – New Episodes
    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – Premiere

A new medical K-drama from the Hulu side of things will also premiere at the start of the month, continuing to release new episodes throughout June. The series stars Lee Jae-wook as a plastic surgeon who takes a job working on a remote island with mysterious medical occurrences.

    June 2

    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode

    June 4

    • Disney Jr. Play Break: Shorts – Four-Episode Premiere

From the Disney Jr. side of things, Play Break is a new ‘interactive’ series of shorts that promotes getting active with iconic Disney characters.

    June 5

    • Travis Japan Summer Vacation!! in the USA (Hulu Original) – New Episode

    June 6

    • Chibiverse (Season 4) – New Episodes
    • Locker Diaries: Phineas and Ferb: Shorts – Two-Episode Premiere

Disney’s new Locker Diaries series kicked off back in February with a series of episodes about the characters from Zombie High. Now the series returns to explore what’s inside the lockers of a new cast of characters from the recently rebooted classic, Phineas & Ferb.

    June 8

    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode
    • Alice and Steve

    June 9

    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode

    June 10

    • Dragon Striker – Premiere – All Episodes Streaming
    • The Magic Behind Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows – Premiere

An entirely new animated series, Dragon Striker takes place in a world where magic is a key part of most sports. 12-year-old farm boy Key wants to be an elite athlete, and while he doesn’t have natural magical powers, he does have a gift he inherited through his mother, the Dragon Striker. The full first season will land on Disney+ as new episodes continue to broadcast on Disney XD (U.S.) or the Disney Channel (everywhere else).

    June 11

    • Bonnaroo Livestream Day 1 – Live at 7:45pm ET
    • The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Director’s Cut | Bonus Feature

Now this is a funky one. The X-Files ran from 1993 and 2002, and is nothing short of a classic of the sci-fi genre. Back in 2008, the series’ creator Chris Carter returned to the series for a feature film: The X-Files: I Want to Believe. We didn’t have the kindest things to say about the horror-inspired film in our original review, BUT, this is a never-before-seen director’s cut, so you never know. I’ll certainly never complain about getting some more Mulder and Scully on my screen.

Otherwise, Disney+ will be livestreaming the Bonnaroo music festival from Manchester, Tennessee. You can check out the full lineup and schedule for that here.

    June 12

    • Bonnaroo Livestream Day 2 – Live at 7pm ET
    • Marvel’s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends – New Episodes
    • Travis Japan Summer Vacation!! in the USA (Hulu Original) – New Episodes

    June 13

    • Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Firefighters (ESPN+) – 8pm ET
    • Bonnaroo Livestream Day 3 – Live at 7pm ET
    • Locker Diaries: Phineas and Ferb: Shorts – New Episodes

Like previous months, Disney+ will continue to stream games from the Banana Ball Championship League (BBCL), a more ‘entertainment-focused’ variant of baseball, starting with the Savannah Bananas taking on the Firefighters.

    June 14

    • Bonnaroo Livestream Day 4 – Live at 5pm ET
    • Muppets Most Wanted: Unnecessary – Extended Cut | Bonus Feature

Muppets Most Wanted continues the extended cuts theme of the month. We were actually pretty big fans of the 2014 Muppet Movie when it was first released, calling it a “fun, joyful film that once more reminds us why the Muppets are so wonderful” in our review. The extended cut reportedly includes around 12 minutes of extra footage.

    June 15

    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode

    June 16

    • Imagineer That! – New Episode
    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode
    • A Spark Into A Flame: Hamilton & Hip Hop – Premiere

Hamilton is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a special edition Blu-ray release. This new documentary about the hip hop origins of Lin Manuel Miranda’s iconic (dare I say “revolutionary”) musical will be available to stream on Disney+ the same day that Blu-ray releases.

    June 17

    • Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Clowns (ESPN2) – 7pm ET
    • Travis Japan Summer Vacation!! in the USA (Hulu Original) – Season Finale
    • The Simpsons – Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition (Disney+ Original)

Disney+ is the home of all seasons of The Simpsons, but June marks the launch of new Disney+ exclusive episodes. The first of these is a double episode, followed by a another new episode in July followed by a third in August.

    June 20

    • Disney+ and ESPN*: Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Clowns (ESPN+) – 7pm ET
    • Locker Diaries: Phineas and Ferb: Shorts – New Episodes

    June 21

    • Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Clowns (ESPN) – 3pm ET

    June 22

    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode

    June 23

    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode

    June 24

    • Avatar: Fire and Ash – Premiere
    • Behind the Attraction (Season 3) – Premiere – All Episodes Streaming

Perhaps the biggest movie streaming premiere on this list, James Cameron’s latest Avatar movie is landing on Disney+ toward the end of the month. IGN’s review praised the film with a 9 out of 10 score, though the future of the franchise remains uncertain given how much money they’ve been costing.

The streamer will also be premiering a new season of Behind the Attraction, a docu-series that offers a behind-the-scenes look into some of Disney World’s most popular attractions.

    June 26

    • How Not to Draw: Shorts (Season 5) – New Episode

    June 27

    • Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Party Animals (ESPN) – 8pm ET

    June 28

    • Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Party Animals (ABC) – 4pm ET

    June 29

    • Adventure Time: Side Quests (Warner Bros. Animation) – Premiere
    • Doctor on the Edge (Hulu Original) – New Episode
    • Soy Luna: Seasons 1-3 Recap (Disney+ Original)

Disney+ will be getting a “recap” of the first three seasons of Soy Luna, an Argentinian series from Disney Latin America that should be getting a fourth season some time this year.

And last but certainly not least, Disney+ will be getting a new spin-off of the Adventure Time series we previously claimed had accomplished the “perfect finale” in a now very old review. After trying out a more adult-focused spin-off with the Fionna and Cake series, we’re heading back to the Land of Ooo with Finn and Jake. Expect to see some other familiar faces returning over the course of ‘self-contained episodes,’ which, based on the announcement poster, will also feature a new art style.
