SHREVEPORT, La. — The R.W. Norton Art Gallery is bringing the animal kingdom indoors and opening its sculpture archives for two new exhibitions starting next month.
The museum will host a free opening reception open to the public on next Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The first exhibition, “Museum Menagerie,” is drawn from the permanent collection of the R.W. Norton Art Gallery. The display features works in a variety of media, including sculptures, drawings, paintings, and prints. The exhibition explores how artists use their expressions to observe and reimagine animals as companions, symbols, and interpretations of the natural world.
The second exhibition, “From the Archives: Forms in Bronze,” brings together a selection of bronze sculptures from the museum’s archives for a special pop-up exhibit. The display will be on view from June 4 through June 28.
