Review: (Please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Based on the manga by Goro Aizome, the spring 2026 anime adaptation is the latest short through the AnimeFesta program and service in Japan. The anime adaptation brought on Sota Warai to direct it from the series composition by Eeyo Kurosaki. Nagae Ashitaka handled the character designs, and Studio Hokiboshi, which has worked on numerous Animefesta projects, handled this at the time as well. The original manga is known as Okī Onnanoko wa Suki desu ka? and began in 2014 and has eight volumes out so far, with it ongoing. It’s released through Seven Seas Entertainment in English.
This episode spends a lot of its time doing more mundane things with everyone out at the shopping district getting all kinds of supplies that they need. Sota’s enjoying his time with Sanae since he’s really into her, but the others are just chowing down pretty hard and enjoying all kinds of delicious foods. Everyone has their quirks and it’s fun to watch it play out in such a simple form. Eventually, they’re all together once again, but before they finish up they get a chance to do the lottery where the prize if a hot spring trip for a couple. Kaoru steps up to do just that and win it, but she’s winning it for Sanae and Sota.
And he’s definitely thrown by this, but it’s fun to watch as the two end up going on this trip together and even enjoying the hot spring that they’ve got together. It’s all perfectly romantic, but she’s worried about how Sota and Kaoru are together and even brings it up. But he makes it clear that he’s into her first and foremost, and that has her agreeing to fooling around with him in the spring. It’s got the series name said out loud, which is always a fun moment, and shenanigans in the hot spring are always a delight. It’s pretty standard stuff with a little foreplay before the real thing, and you definitely get to see that Sanae is enjoying herself a lot – and very quickly.

In Summary:
Getting Sanae and Sota together for some quality time is pretty nice, but it’s pretty thin on the actual relationship and feelings/engagement side just because it is a short. I do like that the episode let all of the characters have some time on their own or in other configurations in the shopping district, as it let their personalities shine pretty well. Everything with Kaoru is interesting, but having some girl-on-girl action toward the end was probably the most surprising moment that’s sadly not going to be something I expect them to do anything with.
