Jason Brubaker’s beloved sci-fi webcomic reMIND will be collected this fall in reMIND: The Complete Saga from Titan Comics. Today, The Beat can exclusively reveal the details on the forthcoming collection, which marks the first time that the full saga will be together in one volume.
reMIND follows Sonja, an inventor, mechanic, and lighthouse keeper, whose closest companion is her cat, Victuals. When Victuals disappears—a near impossibility on their remote island—and returns with a mysterious creature’s brain in place of his own, it sends Sonja on a journey that reveals itself to be far more perilous and intense than she ever could have predicted.
Here’s the full synopsis:
Sonja is a lighthouse keeper, a gifted mechanic, and an inventor. She lives a quiet life on a remote island with her cat, Victuals. When Victuals vanishes without explanation and then unexpectedly returns, something has changed. The cat now carries the brain of a strange, intelligent lizard-creature from a hidden underwater kingdom.
What follows is a mystery that spirals from the intimate—a girl trying to understand what happened to her companion—into something far larger: a conflict involving brain transplantation experiments, an ancient civilization of lizard-men living beneath the sea, and the dangerous ambitions of those who wield unchecked power. Sonja must navigate a world she didn’t know existed, protect the people she loves, and confront questions about faith, loyalty, and what it means to truly know someone.
reMIND was created by Jason Brubaker during his time as a Visual Development Artist at DreamWorks Animation, where he worked on films such as Kung Fu Panda 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Croods, and Captain Underpants.
reMIND debuted as a webcomic in 2009 and has amassed a huge following in the decade-and-a-half-since. It has received numerous accolades, including an Eisner Award nomination for Macroverse’s TapStory digital adaptation.
