It’s been a few years since Hiroya Oku wrapped up their work on Gantz, and they’re back with a new serialization with Kanrekihime. The new series made its debut on December 26th, 2025, with the 2/2026 installment of Big Comic Superior magazine.

Now, some news on another of their properties has come in with the 2017 manga series Gigant. With it wrapping up with ten volumes, it previously crossed the three million mark for the number of copies in print and circulation available worldwide. It’s released in English through Seven Seas Entertainment.

The manga is apparently on track for an anime feature film as K2 Pictures revealed at Cannes this weekend that its fund is involved in such an adaptation, and is their first animated work.  No details regarding the adaptation were revealed.

Oku made their debut in 1988 with HEN: Suzuki & Satou and have twelve properties to their name so far, including Gantz.

Big Comic Superior is a semimonthly seinen manga magazine published since July 1, 1987, by Shogakukan in Japan. Its target audience is somewhere between the audience for Big Comic Original and Big Comic Spirits.

Plot Concept: Rei dreams of becoming a big-ticket film director, but when he stumbles into a chance meeting with a busty adult film star, his high school life takes a turn for the strange. Not only does his favorite porn star like him, she gains the power to grow to an enormous, towering size! Is alien technology to blame? Time travel? The end of the world? All manner of bizarre trouble lies ahead, and a gigantic, gorgeous woman is just the tip of the iceberg!
