There were nine prize categories up for grabs tonight at the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards, the country’s premier literary honours for books written by our very own New Zealanders.
Among the categories; Fiction, poetry, illustrated non-fiction, general non-fiction, four awards dedicated to celebrating first-time authors, and, at the judge’s discretion, a Māori language award.
Nicola Legat is the chair of the NZ Book Awards Trust, and spokesperson for the awards. She joins Emile on the show tonight.
