The Hana-Kimi manga from Hisaya Nakajo is in the works for an anime adaptation that could see a 2025 debut. The original manga ran for 23 volumes between 1996 and 2004, as serialized in Hana to Yume magazine. It saw a couple of live-action TV series in Japan and one in South Korea and Taiwan as well, making it a very popular title in the region. Viz Media has released the series in English. We learned in May 2024 that an anime adaptation is coming and that Crunchyroll will stream it in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, and India when it arrives.
With a January 4th, 2026, premiere date, Aniplex Japan has now set the home video release plans for the show. The twelve-episode series is being released as two box sets on both DVD and Blu-ray. The DVD sets are priced at 15,000 yen each, while the Blu-ray sets are priced at 17,000 yen each.

The series has Natsuki Takemura directing it with Shigeu Ueda as the assistant director. Takao Yoshioka is handling the scripts while Shi Yi Su is handling the character designs, and Signal.MD on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Aya Yamane as Mizuki Ashiya, Taku Yashiro as Izumi Sano, Kikunosuke Toya as Shuichi Nakatsu, Yūichirō Umehara as Minami Nanba, Jun Fukuyama as Hokuto Umeda, Reiji Kawashima as Senri Nakao, Kōki Uchiyama as Daiki Kayashima, Wataru Komada as Kyogo Sekime, Anan Furuya as Shinji Noe, Kōtarō Nishiyama as Wataru Nihonbashi, and Yūko Natsuyoshi as Julia M..
YOASOBI will be performing both theme songs with “Adrena” and “BABY.”
