The Mandalorian and Grogu is getting a tie-in one-shot from Papercutz this summer, titled The Mandalorian and Grogu: Danger in the Dark. Written by Delilah S. Dawson (Star Wars: Phasma), with art by Mario del Pennino and Arianna Florean (Star Wars Adventures), the comic takes place before the new movie, and follows the titular bounty hunter and son on an adventure beneath the surface of their new homeworld Nevarro.

The official synopsis elaborates, “Joined by a courageous crew of Anzellan friends, Din Djarin and his foundling venture into the lava tubes underneath the city to defuse a crashed pirate ship, facing creepy creatures and perilous obstacles along the way. But with the planet’s safety on the line, can Grogu learn to listen to Mando’s guidance? And can Mando balance teaching Grogu with letting the little guys lead? Don’t miss this high-energy story full of humor and heart!”
The book mark the first original Mandalorian comic. Prior to this, all three seasons of the TV show were adapted into graphic novels released by the Disney Book Group and Panini. The first two seasons were also adapted into miniseries at Marvel Comics, while the first was turned into a manga by Yusuke Osawa. A manga adaptation of the second, by Francesco Matteuzzi (Funny Things: A Comic Strip Biography of Charles M. Schulz), Jacopo Silvestre, and Cristian Polizzi, is currently in the works.
Danger in the Dark will be released on July 22, two months after The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters, and retail for $6.99. It will have different covers by Brent Schoonover, Ramon Rosanas, and Juni Ba. It will become the first Star Wars release from Papercutz, who landed the all-ages comics rights for the galaxy far far away earlier this year. Their next Star Wars book, Smugglers and Scoundrels: The Race for Jabba’s Bounty, will be released on September 15.
