A new anime adaptation of a manga series was in our future as the Undead Unluck work is slotted for a 2023 broadcast. The show was a Hulu exclusive when it arrived on October 6th, 2023, and we learned earlier this year that a one-hour special is set with a December 25th, 2025, premiere date. With a special out previously and a second season in the works, a new focus on the first season has surfaced.
Anime Limited has scheduled a collector’s edition Blu-ray for a June 22nd, 2026, release in the UK, as well as a regular edition. They’ll be priced at £69.99 and £39.99, respectively. Both sets are bilingual while also including French subtitles, but the collector’s edition has a bit as on-disc extras just includes trailers.
The collector’s edition features a bonus storage box, with room to store both parts 1 and 2 of the series (Part 2 sold separately). Part 1 also comes packed in its own rigid slipcase, within which is an Amaray case containing two Blu-ray discs. Finally, this edition features a 24-page booklet filled with character bios and design artwork, plus a glossary of the show’s important terms, concepts and powers, and a deep dive into the animation work for some of the show’s key scenes complete with comments from the series’ director.
The series has Yuki Yase directing it with Hideyuki Morioka on board for the character designs. David Production handling the animation for the series.
The Japanese cast includes Moe Kahara as Fuuko Izumo, Yuichi Nakamura as Andy, Natsuki Hanae as Shen, Kenji Nomura as Void, Rikiya Koyama as Billy, Mariya Ise as Juiz, Rie Kugimiya as Tatiana, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Top, Aoi Yūki as Gina, Koji Yusa as Nico, Tomokazu Sugita as Apocalypse, Ayumu Murase as Chikara Shigeno, Yuuki Kaji as Rip, Ikumi Hasegawa as Latla, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Fan, and Hiroki Yasumoto as Creed.
The English dub is handled by Bang Zoom! Entertainment and has Tony Oliver directing it. The English cast includes Ben Balmaceda as Andy, Jackie Lastra as Fuko Izumo, Aleks Le as Shen, Daniel Walton as Void, and Amber Lee Connors as Gena. Additionally, Eurie Nam, who was the winner of the Anime Expo 2023 Open Auditions, will have guest roles in the series.
The opening theme song is “01” as performed by QUEEN BEE while the ending theme song “know me…” will be performed by Kairi Yagi. The second cour opening theme song is “Love Call” from Shiyui while the OKAMOTO’S perform the new ending theme song “Kono ai ni Kanau Mon wa Nai.”

Plot Concept: All Fuuko wants is a passionate romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she’s become Andy’s unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy’s burial plans on hold.
