Get ready to revisit a childhood favorite with a grown-up twist. Bucket Listers, the experiential media brand, is bringing back the classic school book fair experience for the 21+ crowd.
You remember the vibe: you walk into a room full of books, clutching a few dollars, ready to buy the latest Where’s Waldo and Lisa Frank stickers. The book fair was a big deal. This new version taps into that same feeling but updates it for a different stage of life. The Boozy Book Fair is touring cities nationwide, with a stop planned in Boston.
The event leans all the way in to nostalgia. Upon entering, you’ll receive a scantron-style sheet to choose a welcome drink from a menu that includes cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic options. Drinks come with cheeky names like “Where The Sidecar Ends” and “Baby Sitters Club Soda.” After that, you can wander through shelves filled with a mix of cult favorites, banned titles and offbeat finds, along with quirky gifts and nostalgic merch. Each ticket also comes with a credit to spend on retro trinkets and classic school supplies.
The Boozy Book Fair also includes activities meant to keep things lively, like Drunk Spelling Bees, themed talks, sip and sculpt and a “Read The Wine Print” book club. You’ll also find interactive setups for throwback photo-ops, like oversized “Hang In There” posters, Lisa Frank-esque installations and I-Spy and Stereogram walls.
For a little more fun, there’s the Secret Book Exchange. Guests can bring a used chapter book from home and swap it for a mystery pick, wrapped and ready for a surprise reveal.
Part bookstore, part social hangout and part throwback, the Boozy Book Fair offers a chance to relive a childhood fave in a whole new way. Only this time, there’s no homework waiting when you get home. Join the waitlist to be the first to be notified when more details and tickets are available.
