Toei is looking to bring back into circulation some OVAs that have slid under the radar for too long, including Manami & Nami Sprite. This 1997 two-episode OVA series saw release in English through Central Park Media as Sprite: Between Two Worlds. Toei has scheduled an August 5th, 2026, release date for the set priced at 5,000 yen, which features a 2K Negative Scan HD Remaster of the materials.
The anime is based on the erotic comedy manga by Shinobu Arimura, serialized in “Young King” (published by Shonen Gahosha) from 1994 to 1997. Check out the cover artwork to the right.
The series was directed by Takeshi Yamaguchi from the screenplay by Tsutomu Senogai. Takashi Wada handled the character designs with JC Staff and Toei Animation involved in the production.
The Japanese cast includes Tetsuya Iwanaga as Tohru Takamura, Yū Sugimoto as Manami Sakumoto / Nami, Ayako Taneda as Manami’s mother, Emi Ōta as Imai, Hidenari Ugaki as Sensei, Katsumi Suzuki as Hirame, Maya Okamoto as Chiaki, and Shinichirō Miki as Masaya.
The English dub was directed by All Guss with a cast that includes Gabriel J. Seador as Toru Takamura, Tara Jayne as Manami Sakumoto / Nami, Andrew Bollinger as Masaya, Lola Rivera as Chiaki, and Mina Sands as Manami’s Mother.
Plot Concept: Toru Takamura, preparing for his university entrance exams, has moved in with his uncle in Tokyo. He reunites with his cousin Manami after a long time, only to find that she has become the school’s most popular girl. However, for some reason, another personality exists within Manami, manifesting under the keyword “Nami”! Nami is a bold and extreme personality, completely unexpected from the image of the innocent Manami. Moreover, while Nami is inside her, Manami remembers nothing. How far will this dual personality escalate…?
