- The Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale will take place from April 18–22 in Gainesville.
- Over 500,000 donated items, including books, music, and games, will be available for purchase.

Thousands of items will again be sold at deeply discounted prices during this year’s Spring Book Sale.
Hosted by Friends of the Library, the sale will take place April 18–22 at the Friends of the Library Bookhouse, 430 N. Main St. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 18 and noon to 6 p.m. April 19–22.
More than 500,000 items will be available, including books of every genre, works of art, games, puzzles, comics, manga, music scores, movies, CDs and vinyl records. Most items will be priced between 25 cents and $5.
Friends of the Library hosts book sales each fall and spring, with proceeds supporting projects of the Alachua County Library District and other local initiatives that promote literacy throughout Alachua County.
“Over the last 70 years, we have been able to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars toward these causes,” said Sue Morris, spokesperson for the book sale.
Shoppers can take advantage of half‑price deals on April 21, followed by the biggest discounts on April 22, when all items cost only 10 cents.
“Imagine 100 books for $10!” Morris said.
A section for serious book collectors — The Collector’s Corner — will feature first editions, rare and signed volumes, as well as works of historical value and local ephemera. The Collector’s Corner will be open April 18–21 only. The book sale is free, family‑friendly and open to the public, Morris said.
Friends of the Library is an all‑volunteer, independent organization united by a simple but powerful belief: literacy changes lives, Morris said.
“We recognize that knowing how to read and developing a love of learning are key to successfully navigating life in today’s world,” she said.
All books on the shelves were donated by members of the Alachua County community during the previous six months, Morris said.
While books are continuously restocked during the sale, many remain unsold at its conclusion. The day after the sale ends, nonprofit organizations are invited to take as many books as they wish at no charge.
“Last sale we had over 25 organizations participate in this give away,” Morris said.
