Sony Pictures was back at CinemaCon in 2026 and its presentation was filled with updates and reveals from such heavy-hitters as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Resident Evil, Jumanji: Open World, and so much more.

There was a lot discussed during the presentation, and we’ve gathered all the biggest news right here to ensure you don’t miss a thing.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Gets a New Clip and Two New Posters

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was the first big reveal of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s CinemaCon presentation, and we were treated to two new posters and a clip that shows more of how people forgot they ever knew Peter Parker, thanks to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The clip starts in a coffee shop and sees Peter listening to Ned placing an order, and he tells someone on the phone that he will call them right back. Ned leaves, and he follows him out. Turns out Ned was going to a party and brought some drinks, and Peter walks in and tries to blend in.

Peter is walking around uncomfortably with a cup, and he walks into a room and finds a little figure of Spider-Man. He sees articles on the wall of Spidey and other things, and it’s revealed this is Ned’s room.

We also learn that Ned knows Spider-Man saved him and his friends a few times during high school and, ever since then, he’s been trying to find out who he is. He doesn’t want to tell the world his identity, he just wants to thank him. And to do so, he’s created an app called “Spider-Tracker.”

We learn Ned knows Spider-Man is from Queens and that he has two prime suspects of who he could be – Flash Thompson and Martin Starr’s Roger Harrington.

MJ walks in as she is complaining about how crowded the party is, and she notices Peter standing there with some flowers he bought. She says, “nice flowers,” and he responds by saying thanks and introducing himself as Maynard.

Ned is confused as to why this Maynard is here, and he says he is a neighbor, to which MJ responds, “Friendly neighbor!”

Ned then follows MJ and they talk about a job she got but turned down, saying she doesn’t want to work for a soulless corporation. She also says “something tells me I should be waiting for something great.”

MJ’s boyfriend, who is played by Ahsoka’s Eman Esfandi (Ezra!), walks in and says “The wait is over!” He follows up with, “you can’t save everyone,” to which MJ says, “I can try,” and then they kiss. Peter is NOT happy.

We then got a quick sizzle reel of Spidey leaping off a building and other stuff we previously saw in the trailer. Oh, and some footage of Damage Control guys pointing guns on Spidey. He says, “Gimmie a sec” and “I’m not in High School anymore!” and he flips and swings around and takes them all down.

Sony also reiterated that Spider-Man: No Way Home was its biggest movie ever, and it reminded the world how the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was the single most-watched trailer ever with over one billion views in less than one week. Speaking of which, you can check that trailer out below for the film that will arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Clip Showcases the ‘Final Chapter of Miles’ Story’

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse made a big splash at CinemaCon with an extended look at early, unfinished footage from the start of the film that is being called “the final chapter of Miles’ story.”

The footage begins with a helicopter flying overhead as Miles says, “there’s no Spider-Man here.” We also see the end of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with him knocked out by himself/Prowler. He wakes up and we get an exchange between the two Miles and Uncle Aaron.

Miles, who we will call Miles 1, says they have to let him go and that he is Miles Morales. The other Miles, who we will call Miles 2, says, “Morales? You can’t even say it right,” just as they argue about the proper way to pronounce their last name.

Check out new images in the slideshow below, which are the first four!

    Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Images

Miles 1 tells them that his dad will die in two days and he explains canon events to Miles 2 and Aaron and they both think it sounds ridiculous. Miles begins to glitch again as Miles 2 says, “you’re pretty mouthy for a guy chained to a bag.” Miles responds by saying, “You know what they say? Don’t watch the mouth. Watch the hands.”

Just then, he uses his powers to blast free and we then cut to a montage of Gwen waking up and Miles fighting himself. Peter B. Parker then shows up and hands baby May to Spider-Ham, who says he’ll gladly watch over her but he’s “all out of milk.”

The last bit of footage shows the return of Kingpin, glimpses of The Spot and Spider-Man 2099, and Rio saying to miles, “I asked you to be tough. You’re not tough, you’re strong.”

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters on June 18, 2027.

Bloodborne Is Getting an R-Rated Animated Film

One of the biggest surprises of the night was the announcement of an R-Rated animated film based on Bloodborne. The film is being produced by Jacksepticeye and got a lot of cheers from the audience.

Jumanji: Open World Footage Shows How the Game Has Entered the Real World

Jumanji: Open World is officially the name of the sequel to 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, and we were shown a hilarious clip from the film that’s set to be released in theaters on December 25, 2026.

We see Lamorne Morris’ repair man fixing an old video game console and we see animals on the loose in the real world thanks to the events of the last film. Danny DeVito’s Eddie is shown calling all the kids to a restaurant and we learn that Dwayne Johnson’s Bravestone and the others are out of the game, although they are speaking with a Spanish accent as they’re from a Spanish demo mode of the game. Jack Black’s Oberon then says, “i’m beginning to suspect we’re not in Jumanji.”

The video game characters are running in the real world like clumsy old characters, and we see moments of Bravestone and Kevin Hart’s Mouse yelling at each other in Spanish and the characters driving around in various vehicles.

The footage ends with the crew going back into the game, with the kids back as their video game counterparts.

Director Zach Cregger Teases the Horrors to Come in Resident Evil With a New Clip

Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil showed up at CinemaCon, and the director had a few words to share about the upcoming film alongside revealing a small look at the horrors to come. He began by saying that he has “put an embarassing number of hours into playing these games” and the the franchise is “absolutely the gold standard of survival horror.”

He then emphasized that the film will feature the pacing and atmosphere of the games, but it wouldn’t have narrative gymnastics like in Weapons or Barbarian.

As for the clip, we see a man walking towards a house in the snow. Turns out his car has broken down and he needs to use a phone, but the residents aren’t home. He goes in an tries to use it, and finally gets it to work and says, “I’m sorry we got disconnected, I’m in a seriously f***** situation right now.”

He then sees a giant guy who resembles Dune’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen in a dark tunnel, and we get shots of him running through the snow in a town. Lastly, he leaves a voicemail to his girlfriend, saying “I just wanted to let you know I love you,” and that he might not get out of this alive.

Resident Evil will be released in theaters on September 18, 2026.

The Social Reckoning Is a ‘Real David and Goliath Story’

The Social Reckoning, according to director Aaron Sorkin, is a “real David and Goliath story’ that is based on the 2021 Facebook leak by whistleblower Frances Haugen. Mikey Madison played Haugen and we were shown a clip where he is speaking to Jeremy Allen White’s Jeff Horwitz of the Wall Street Journal about this story.

As it turns out Facebook leadership knew all too well that the social media giant was harmful to teens and has caused real-life consequences thanks to its misinformation that is allowed to run wild.

Jeremy Strong’s Mike Zuckerburg is also shown, and he is seen with with an advisor played by Bill Burr.

The Social Reckoning will be released in theaters on October 9, 2026.

While we weren’t treated to any new details, images, or footage from The Legend of Zelda movie, Sony did confirm that filming has officially been wrapped and work progresses on the film set to debut in theaters on May 7, 2027.

    Helldivers Gets a Quick Update

Helldivers, which will be released in theaters on November 10, 2027, got a quick update at CinemaCon, confirming director Justin Lin was just in Sweden meeting with the game developers at Arrowhead Game Studios. Furthermore, the team is off to New Zealand in a few weeks to start building the film.

Lin also shared that “Helldivers balances satire with humanity… and the only person who I think can pull this off is Jason Momoa.” Momoa was previously revealed as the star of the film, and we know he’ll be playing an irreverant soldier battling aliens on behalf of humanity.

TriStar’s Shows Off Klara and the Sun, The Nightingale, and Grandgear

The Nightingale, which is based on the book from Kristin Hannah, has just started filming and will tell the story of two sisters (Dakota and Elle Fanning) in occupied France during World War II. The film will arrive on February 12, 2027.

Takashi Yamazaki’s Grandgear will open on February 18, 2028, and is produced by J.J. Abrams. We saw a first clip of the film and it was giving big Pacific Rim vibes, as we saw giant robots or armored warriors fighting kaiju in a city.
