Shuichi Shigeno had a lot of success with his Initial D manga and a few years ago started the MF Ghost series, which is planned for roughly twenty or so volumes. We learned about the anime adaptation back in late 2021, and the show was set saw a 2023 debut for the first season and a 2025 debut for the second season.
The home video release side of this is being handled by Avex Pictures and they’re going for a box set approach for the twelve-episode series. The first season saw two sets priced at 18,000 yen each and arrive on January 26th, 2024 and February 28th, 2024. The second season follows the same design with similar dates in 2025.
Now, the third season is being set with two box sets as well with six episodes, that will arrive in the summer of 2026. These have increased in price slightly to 19,000 yen per set. Check out the full schedule below.
The series saw Tomohito Naka directing it based on the series scripts from Kenichi Yamashita and Akihiko Inari. Naoyuki Onda is adapting Shuichi Shigeno’s original manga designs with studio Felix Film handling the production for the animation. With plans for a Eurobeat-style soundtrack, Akio Dobashi of the Initial D films is handling the music composition.
The Japanese cast includes Yūma Uchida as Kanata Katagiri (Kanata Livington), Ayane Sakura as Ren Saionji, Daisuke Ono as Shun Aiba, Hiroshi Kamiya as Michael Beckenbauer, Daisuke Namikawa as Daigo Ōishi, Junichi Suwabe as Kaito Akaba, Hiroki Yasumoto as Fūjin Ishigami, Ryota Ohsaka as Kōki Sawatari, Kohsuke Tanabe as Kakeru Yashiro, Yū Serizawa as Nozomi Kitahara, Tooru Sakurai as Yūdai Sakamoto, Kaito Ishikawa as Yōsuke Ōtani, Yūichi Nakamura as Jackson Taylor, Takumu Miyazono as Kazuhiro Maezono, Shogo Sakata as Takuya Yanagida, Kenta Miyake as E. Hanninen, Tasuku Hatanaka as Ogata, Taku Yashiro as Sena Moroboshi, Takehito Koyasu as Ryō Takahashi, Tomokazu Seki as Keisuke Takahashi, Osamu Hosoi as Fumihiro Jōyū, Yasunori Matsumoto as Wataru Akiyama, Mitsuo Iwata Itsuki Takeuchi, Kazuki Yao as Kōichirō Iketani, Wataru Takagi as Kenji, Shuuhei Sakaguchi Hiroya Okuyama, Nobutoshi Canna as Kai Kogashiwa, Tatsuki Kobe as Yōji Tanaka, Yuko Iida as Kyōko Kurihara, and Coco Hayashi as Mami Satō.
The series features the main theme songs with ‘JUNGLE FIRE feat. MOTSU” from Yu Serizawa as the opening while the ending theme song is “Stereo Sunet (Prod AmPM)” from Himika Akaneya.
The manga comes from Shuichi Shigeno which began in 2017 as serialized in Young Magazine. It’s released twelve volumes so far and is ongoing.

Plot Concept: MF Ghost takes place in the 2020s, when self-driving cars are ubiquitous in Japan. Centered around Kanata Livington, a Japanese driver who goes back to Japan after graduating at the top of his class at a racing school in England. MF Ghost also focuses on the MFG, a racing circuit on public roads that has garnered attention worldwide.
