It’s been a few years since the Tono to Issho anime series departed Crunchyroll, last month we talked about how the second cour is getting a new lease on life. The It’s Anime channel brought back that second cour that saw a two-cour run back in 2010 and 2011. The gag comedy show is based on the manga by Ohba-Kai and has not seen a home video release or pickup by anyone after it initially aired.
Now, the series is getting some additional distribution, but is starting from the beginning. OceanVeil has scheduled the first season to go live on April 1st, 2026, at 9:00 pm EDT, while the second season arrives on April 7th, 2026, also at 9:00 pm EDT.
The first season went live last week on the service, and now the second season has gone live. Both are in their original Japanese language with English subtitles.
The anime was directed by Manku, with Gathering handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Masamune Date, Daisuke Hirakawa as Mitsuhide Akechi, Daisuke Kishio as Nobuyuki Sanada, Daisuke Ono as Kagetsuna Katakura, Gackt as Kenshin Uesugi, Kentarō Itō as Masayuki Sanada, and Mamiko Noto as Motochika Chōsokabe.
Plot Concept: The Warring States period of Japan is turned upside down as every one of the daimyos’ and generals’ personal traits becomes a potential source for countless gags. Not even Date Masamune’s eye loss, Akechi Mitsuhide’s grudge against Nobunaga or Chōsokabe Motochika’s tenderness escape the comical treatment.
