Marvel’s slate of Queen in Black tie-in series is continuing to expand, with Venom Unchained, a three-issue series starring Eddie Brock by Charles Soule (Eddie Brock: Carnage) and Juanan Ramírez (Knull). Picking up from last week’s Venom #256 (which marks part six of the current “Death Spiral” crossover), the book will find the newly depowered and incarcerated Brock struggling to find a way to escape and help fight the impending return of Hela, the newly crowned Queen in Black.

Soule states, “When I agreed to write a new chapter in Eddie Brock’s ongoing story a few years back [in 2025’s] Eddie Brock: Carnage, I had no idea it would end up continuing through all these dark little paths. From Carnage to Death Spiral and now to Venom: Unchained, I’ve found there’s a lot to explore with Mr. Brock and his relationships with various symbiotes. Very glad to spend this time with Eddie – he’s a fascinating guy.”
Brock, the original Venom, lost control of the symbiote at the end of 2024’s crossover Venom War, resulting in Mary Jane Watson becoming its new host, and him bonding with Carnage instead. While Queen in Black would presumably see him become Venom once more, the press release hints that he will “perhaps find a new symbiote to claim…”
Issue #1 will be released on July 15, shortly after the main series by Al Ewing and Iban Coello begins on July 1. It will have a main cover by Leinil Francis Yu, and variants by Peach Momoko, Skan, and Ema Lupacchino. In the meantime, the “Death Spiral” crossover will conclude with Amazing Spider-Man #27 on April 22, and the epilogue one-shot Body Count on May 13.
Other Queen in Black tie-ins will include Tom Waltz and Zé Carlos‘s miniseries Defenders of Lights and Dark, starting July 8, and the newly announced one-shots Hela and Thor, both written by Ewing, with art respectively by Carlos Magno, and Sergio Davila. Those will be released separately on July 8, and August 5.
