A new anime film is deep into production with plans for a fall 2026 debut with Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e, it comes from writer Akiko Abe, who was released in 2017. A manga adaptation debuted in 2025 by Haruka Chino, which is about to publish its first compiled volume. You can see the cover for that below.
With the English name To You in the Beyond, the production recently revealed an October 9th, 2026, release date in theaters in Japan. Now, a new teaser and visual have arrived below along with the confirmation of the main cast.
The film has Junichi Wada directing it from the screenplay by Sayaka Kuwamura. Hechima is serving as the character designer and chief animation director with TMS Entertainment on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Hiiro Ishibashi as Kazuki Tsukigase
- Anna Nagase as Nao Akishika
- Simba Tsuchiya as Mikiya Ozaki
- Hiroshi Tamaki as Kōzu

Plot Concept: Tsukigase Kazuki, who harbors a secret, enrolls in Agishima High School on a remote island, seeking an environment where he knows no one.
Agishima is home to a place known as the “Spirited Away Cove,” and at the beginning of summer, Kazuki discovers a girl collapsed in the cove. When she regains consciousness in the hospital, she is named Nanao, 16 years old, and her identity is unknown. What does the word “1974” mean when Nanao mutters it in the cove? A touching story of boy meets girl!
