Dark Horse has announced Uri Tupka and the Devils, a sequel to Mike Mignola‘s new graphic novel Uri Tupka and the Gods. Mignola, colorist Dave Stewart, and letterer Clem Robins will reunite on the follow-up, which sees the titular theologian visit a library full of books that will reveal the origins of the legends in the Lands Unknown universe. However, these stories also threaten to consume his mind…
The official synopsis reads, “After his search for the ancient gods ended with some answers and even more questions, heretic and theologian Uri Tupka travels further to discover the truth about the darkness before the world began and what it means for mankind. He visits a Baron’s library full of esoteric books beyond even Uri’s imagination. Each night in the library brings new insight and clarity, but threatens to consume Uri as his unquenchable desire for understanding sends him down a dangerous path.”
“Uri has found the gods but he still has questions and so he’s gone to look for the answers — in a nightmare castle full of devils!” says Mignola. “See Uri change shape, tumble through his own inner workings and take a pretty savage beating. I put the poor guy through the wringer in this one and I feel a little bad about that, but you gotta do what you gotta do, and these ‘Lands Unknown’ are not all sunshine and flowers.”
The book will mark the fourth entry in Mignola and Ben Stenbeck‘s Lands Unknown universe, which began with last year’s anthology Bowling With Corpses. The setting returned in March with the first Uri Tupka book, and Stenbeck’s two-part series The Skinless Man.
Uri Tupka and the Devils will be released in hardcover on November 16, and weigh in at 104 pages. In the meantime, you can read The Beat‘s new interview with Mignola here, and keep an eye on Dark Horse’s website for information on all of his new and upcoming books, whether they’re part of Lands Unknown, the Hellboy Universe, or standalone series.
