It’s already been an exciting year for movie and TV adaptations of books, from the rom-com “People We Meet on Vacation” on Netflix to the sultry big-screen release of “Wuthering Heights.”

But it’s only February, and there’s even more releases coming this year, and we have seven on our list we can’t wait to see (and re-read before we watch).
Project Hail Mary (March 10)

“Project Hail Mary” stars Ryan Gosling as a science teacher tasked with saving Earth from destruction, heading into space alone and meeting a creature that could help prevent disaster. The book comes from author Andy Weir, who also wrote “The Martian,” which was adapted into a film of the same name starring Matt Damon.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles (April 15)

Fitting this AppleTV+ series would debut on the day taxes are due! Elle Fanning stars as the financially strapped Margo, who turns to OnlyFans to support herself and her daughter, based on the book by Rufi Thorpe. Nicole Kidman, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nick Offerman also star.
The Odyssey (July 17)

One of the oldest surviving works of literature is getting the Christopher Nolan treatment this summer, guaranteed to be a grand adaptation befitting Homer’s epic poem. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus on the road trip home from hell, alongside Anne Hathaway as his faithful wife Penelope and Tom Holland as their son, Telemachus, as well as Zendaya as the goddess Athena and Charlize Theron as the witch and goddess Circe.
Practical Magic 2 (September 18)
1998 Sandra Bullock and Nichole Kidman stars in the new movie “Practical Magic.”
Just in time for fall, we’re getting a sequel about everyone’s favorite witchy sisters, Sally and Gillian Owens. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return for the sequel to the hit 1998 film, originally based on the novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman. The plot is tightly under wraps, but is reportedly based on Hoffman’s sequel to the first novel, “The Book of Magic.”
Verity (October 2)

“Verity” is based on Colleen Hoover’s twisty mystery thriller about a ghostwriter (played by Dakota Johnson) hired to complete a book series after the original author, Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), suffers an accident. Naturally, Lowen discovers a terrible secret about Verity and struggles about what to do with the truth. Fun fact: This is actually the second of two Colleen Hoover adaptations coming out this year, the other being “Reminders of Him” in March.
Sunrise on the Reaping (November 20)

Another prequel set in the “Hunger Games” universe, “Sunrise on the Reaping” follows the participants of the 50th annual Hunger Games, including Katniss’ mentor Haymitch, played by Woody Harrelson in the original film series, and by Joseph Zada as the younger version in “Sunrise.”
Dune: Part 3 (December 18)

The spice must flow, and the story of Paul Atreides must come to an end. Timothee Chalamet returns, along with Zendaya and Florence Pugh, to wrap up the epic sci fi saga.
